OVERVIEW

World Youth Day is a global Catholic event that takes place every 2-3 years, bringing together the Pope and millions of young people from around the world.
This will be the first time World Youth Day is held in South Korea and East Asia. Previous host cities have included Rome, Sydney, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, and Krakow.
Hosting WYD is seen as a major opportunity for South Korea to showcase its Catholic faith and culture on the global stage. It's expected to draw millions of young pilgrims to Seoul.
The event will likely feature large-scale Masses, prayer vigils, cultural performances, youth festivals, and opportunities for young people to connect with each other and the Pope.
